To learn to live and lead a Christ like life and to spend time with other English speaking believers. The building itself is a like an oasis in the middle of the busy city and is open to anyone who seeks to know God more. I encourage everyone who may feel the need to just sit and reconnect with God to stop in during the week and visit the sanctuary for some quiet time with God.
LRFZ: My second home in Guatemala. If you're an English speaker looking for a way to meet other English-speaking people in Guatemala, this is a great place to start!

Iglesia Yurrita: what do users think?
Estyben Mathios: Buena comida excelente cervicio
Jorge Hernandez: Fascinante , hermosa , especial
David Battz: Detalles en cada espacio
Luis Alberto Andrade: Es una linda iglesia bellísima
Cinthia Rosales: Hermosa iglesia, quedé enamorada
Eva Jose: They do masses in English and the people were so kind
Ruth Gabriela Morales Castillo: A place full of art
Elias: Kleine schöne Kirche
Vera Gordon: The church was built in 1929 by the Yurrita family. It is not a typical tourist attraction in the city but if in the area, it may be worth stopping by because the architectural style is different from the churches in the area. It is very ornate with blood-red tower and stonemasonry. The architecture shows a mix of styles from neo-Gothic to baroque. The interior colors and artwork are as spectacular as the exterior. Visitors can tour the church in about 15 to 20 minutes. The entry is free and visitors are welcomed. It is located on the busy avenue.
LAURA OBREGON: It is a beautiful church
Walter Garzaro: There is nothing that compares to it
Steve Sadak: Pretty

Tony Hayes: Really interesting old church. I'll speak to the part that is ruins.Couple usd fee to get in, takes about 30 min to see it. I'd say it's worth it if you have some time to killVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
KIMBERLY LUDEÑA ACEVEDO: Huge, old and interesting.
Elias Muñoz: A nice place to visit, the history about guatemala city is interestingVisited on Weekend Wait time 1 hr+ Reservation recommended Yes …More
Crystal F.: Beautiful ruins of the Cathedral. Don’t forget to wear comfortable sneakers and bring bottled water. There’s an entry fee and if you’re paying in USD, it’s $3.00.
Daniel Stolle: One of the most impressive sites that I was able to visit during my visit to Antigua. The entrance is very cheap and the ruins are incredible. I wish they would give you more information/change it to be a little more like a museum since there is little information about the site. It does however teach you the history of the building, you can go down to the basement and see everything there. It left me amazed.
Nicolas Kitchin: Very beautiful cathedral probably one of the best I’ve seen in Central America
Anibal de Leon: Living cultural expression of Pre-Hispanic times
Vickie: Excellent, I love Guatemala
Ildiko Scott: The Cathedral is a beautiful building with interesting history and previous church ruins behind it. It sits on a site of the church originally constructed in 1541. The Cathedral has earned a UNESCO World Heritage Site status and is centrally located facing the Central Park (Parque Central, Plaza Mayor), a place of gathering for both locals and visitors. The ruins allow tourists to imagine the grandeur of the Cathedral at the time, including some of its dark history moments. The high altar is one of the most preserved areas of ruins. The visit to the Cathedral and the ruins is highly recommended.
Brenda Luna: unique cultural heritage
Wili Revolorio: Beautiful place that you have to visit if you go to Antigua Guatemala 🇬🇹
Kavya Gorrepati: Incredible site with old ruins. An architectural delight.
Aldair Arnold Ortiz: Nice place
Manuel Rosario: I think the front façade needs to be kept more hygienic. And it is necessary to put indications of the ruins that are just around the corner. Outside of those two points: majestic cathedral.
Elian Siles: The cathedral that you visit is a new one and its ruins are on the back side, I hope you can visit both. The history of the ruins is impressive after two restorations due to two earthquakes in Antigua. But it is a wonderful place and some ruins that deserve and are worth visiting.A symbolic income is paid But I insist it is worth paying
Baltha Arias: A place full of faith and devotion, peace and tranquility.
Rob Delgado: Great location for photography and night photos of the main entrance!
Abish Sween: Muy bonito
Vera Gordon: The Antigua Guatemala Cathedral is a beautiful building with interesting history and previous church ruins behind it. It sits on a site of the church originally constructed in 1541. Several earthquakes led to its demolition in 1669. A new building was constructed and consecrated in 1680. Subsequent earthquakes in 1717, 1751 and 1773 ruined the city with the last one causing substantial damage to the church which is why impressive ruins today are available for viewing for a fee (Q20) to tourists (attending the Cathedral is free of charge). Some of the ruins include sacred art that has been a subject of restoration and debate. The high altar is one of the most preserved areas of ruins. The visit to the Cathedral and the ruins is highly recommended.

Jose Briz: Nice and colorful church. They often have local activities and their own “mercadito” with great food. Take photos when mass is not in session, but better if you experience one to get a flavor of an important Antigua tradition.

Diana Elis: Es muy tranquilo y lindo
Kájuša Kilhofová: Krásný kostel, už fasáda zvenčí je opravdu honosná.
David Juarez Dances to eat: If you want to support the local people and taste the true flavor of Antigua, I recommend you visit and buy from these vendors located next to the Iglesia de la Merced✨
Dakota Hunter: Beautiful church
Piotr Kalinowski: Reviewers describe mostly the facade or the church and the interior. Sure, it's beautiful and looks even better in pictures. However, for Q.20 (locals just 10) you may take a look at the backyard. It's quite an experience. The entrance is on the left from the main entrance to the church. You may or may not be lucky to see all - I was.
Fabio Carrillo: A great brotherhood of people full of faith willing to maintain the legacy that was declared as intangible heritage of humanity. Holy Week in Guatemala
Pablo Hernández: Beautiful representative place of Antigua Guatemala
Cristian Ariel Villalobos López: Church with beautiful details in its finishes, spacious and fresh, pleasant to visit.
Javier Letona: You can really feel the colonial vibe in its structure.
Bryan Momotic: A place very close to the center of Antigua.Ideal to be able to take pictures and visit with the family, the architecture of the church and the convent is very beautiful
Rosa María Hernández Bran: A good place to take pictures
Catherine Ruijter: The wedding I went to held in this church was gorgeous (and so is the church)

The parish of El Calvario has remained open to worship since its foundation on November 19, 1618 and is recognized for having been built by the holy Brother Pedro de Betancur. It has the tree of life planted by the Holy Brother Pedro de Betancur.
